Dulyne is a teacher and Assistant Principal working for the city of New York. She was born in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. Dulyne was inspired to become an Administrator when she realized the width of the reach of a school leader. She inspires to be the bridge (The Potomitan) that permits others to accomplish what she herself has been able to accomplish and beyond.

In 2016, Dulyne launched an initiative to improve students’ scores on State Exams. Her work focused on identifying students’ strengths, their reading preferences and creating culturally responsive lessons to close their learning gaps. In addition, with the support of her community, she developed and facilitated a series of professional workshops aimed at improving teachers' skills and students' outcomes on State exams.

Academic achievement improved substantially under her leadership. Students' proficiency in reading and writing rose from 67% in 2015 to 86% in 2016. Dulyne credits the success to her attitude, excitement, and innovation with leading adult learning in her community and promoting a culture that values learning for children and adults.

Dulyne believes, “An effective leader understands how students learn best. In addition, a good leader understands the needs of her staff, especially what is necessary to grow their practices.”

Dulyne has partnered with MIPO Inc (Making the Impossible Possible Organization). MIPO provides an intensive training program for teachers in leadership roles enabling other educators to use research-based techniques and methods learned from the expertise of MIPO’s team, which will influence students' achievement.

Dulyne strives every day for equity in education for Black and Brown children. She is currently exploring ways to take what she has learned back to her homeland of Haiti, as this has always been her dream.

Empowering others through education is why Dulyne Desmangles is a Fanm Potomitan.
